Caterpillar has added the 426F2 backhoe loader with Side Shift to its F2 Series family, delivering all the power, performance and productivity needed on the jobsite alongside features to beat the heat and the dust from the environment and keep the operator comfortable.

The backhoe loader is powered by the 68.5 W Cat 3054C 4-cylinder diesel engine with an advanced cooling system engineered to ensure efficient and reliable operation in ambient temperatures of up to 50°C.

The 426F2’s working capabilities are based on the proven 428F2 design and the machine deliver breakout forces of up to 60.4kN, dig forces of up to 57.2 kN, and a class-leading lift capacity of 3,610 kg at full height.

The backhoe loader’s 4.3m-long excavator boom delivers a 4.7m maximum digging depth and 4.03m loading height, while the loader arm can equip a 1.05m3 bucket offering a 7,012kg tipping load at breakout point.

Available in either two- or four-wheel drive, the 426F2 features a 100% differential lock in the rear axle to provide maximum traction in poor ground conditions, but can equally achieve road speeds of up to 40 km/h, aided by its four-speed Power-Shuttle transmission.

The machine’s narrow 2.2m-wide frame with Side Shift ensures manoeuvrability and performance in confined spaces, with the 205° high-rotation bucket linkage ensures superior material retention and exceptional material removal when excavating.

Dual brake pedals also allow for split braking in tight corners for increased manoeuvrability.

In addition the cooling package, an externally mounted engine pre-cleaner offers quick filter servicing for customers working in dusty operating conditions like those in the Gulf and Middle East.

The 426F2’s enclosed rear axle and wet multi-plate braking system also guards against the ingress of dust in the system and ensure the machines can operate reliably in the harshest conditions.

The machine’s cab has also been purpose-built for the African and Middle Eastern markets, and gives the operator more room to quickly change positions, as well as increased storage space.

The 426F2 also comes with tinted glass standard to help regulate inside cab temperatures, while the curved front windscreen and glazing encircling ensure that good visibility is maintained.

At the same time, there are flat glass panels at the sides and rear for lower replacement costs.
