1. Wear
Diesel Engine Crane wire rope is in contact with other objects and has relative movement during operation, resulting in friction. Under mechanical, physical and chemical action, the surface of the steel wire rope is also constantly worn. Abrasion is a common damage method for steel wire ropes, and is generally divided into three situations: external wear, deformation wear and internal wear.
2. Fatigue
Steel wire ropes are mainly subjected to bending fatigue and fatigue caused by stretching, twisting and vibration during use.
3. Rust
Wire ropes are generally used in the open air. Sun and rain will corrode the wire ropes. Especially when the wire ropes are used in hazardous gas environments, the damage caused by corrosion will be more serious. There is a difference in oxygen affinity on the surface of the steel wire rope damaged by corrosion, so that a certain part of the surface metal becomes the anode, and another adjacent part of the metal becomes the cathode, forming a large number of small batteries. Under the action of the small battery, many circular corrosion pits are formed on the surface and gradually deepen. These pits become stress concentration points and the source of fatigue cracks. At the same time, corrosion reduces the cross-sectional area of the wire rope, and reduces its elasticity and ability to withstand impact.
4. Deformation
Many rope-breaking accidents are because the steel wire rope has been deformed and damaged beforehand and it has not caused enough people to reproduce it, which leads to catastrophes. The main causes of deformation are as follows: trauma\crush\kink
5. Bite the rope
Wire rope biting damage generally occurs on crane drums with multi-layer winding, and even more with grooved double-layer lifting drums. To
6. Overload
The wire rope will elongate slightly with the increase of the load. When the load exceeds the elastic limit, the wire rope may break. Usually the static load borne by the wire rope is controlled at 1/10 to 1/5 of the breaking load, which is called the safe load. The safe load means the rated static load that the steel wire rope is allowed to bear. However, wire ropes are often in motion. In addition to static loads such as cargo, suspended objects, and dead weight, wire ropes are also subject to dynamic loads caused by acceleration and impact, additional loads caused by bending, and friction caused Resistance load and so on. It can be seen that when loads other than static load increase, the actual safety factor is reduced, and the wire rope often causes overload.
